GEF seeks Director/Secretary General

The Green European Foundation is currently seeking a full-time Director / Secretary General for our Brussels office. The Director / Secretary General is responsible for the successful overall management of GEF under the guidelines set by the Board of Directors. She / He reports to the Board of Directors of the foundation. Applications for the vacancy are open until 18 May 2014.

Main responsibilities and tasks

  • Annual and medium-term programme planning and supervision
  • External representation of the foundation, stakeholder contacts and network development
  • Financial management
  • Team and general management

Qualities and experience sought

  • proven strategic management capacities
  • 5 years of experience in relevant positions with same level of responsibility
  • interest in and knowledge of the Green political movement, of Green issues and EU policy-making
  • generalist in content, willing to engage in a diversity of debates
  • ability to adapt to changing conditions, intercultural and social competence
  • networker and communicator
  • strong capacity for critical reflection
  • efficient, structured and inclusive team leader
  • willingness to travel, availability for occasional work outside regular office hours
  • professional fluency in English, all other European language skills are an asset

The Green European Foundation offers:

  • a full-time (38h) post on a contract with unlimited duration
  • salary depending on experience, subject to Belgian tax and social security systems, with a reference salary level of EUR 59.000 brut/year
  • an open, positive and engaging working atmosphere in an international environment

Start Date: 1 September 2014 
Office Location: Brussels, Belgium
